FIFA declared the ranking system of FIFA World Rankings for men's national football team on 26th May 2010 which is at present led by Brazil. This ranking system was 1st introduced in 1992 and six teams have obtained the top position till today. They are Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Among them Brazil have spent longest time in the top position.
There is also a point system in which some points are awarded to the teams on the basis of the result of FIFA recognized matches. Under the current system, rankings are given evaluating a team’s performance over the past four years, where more recent results and more significant matches are given high preferences to recognize the present competitive state of a team.
